Volunteer with us

We are recruiting volunteers for our Community Coffee Shop in Heath Hayes. Even an hour a week, where you can meet people and socialise while helping out, will help us immensely.

Volunteering with us is not just free help for us; we will train you in whatever field you'd like. Barista training, customer service training, and catering are just some of the things we can offer training in.

To apply, please send your CV, a brief explanation of what role you'd like and why you want to volunteer with us to:

dan@chags.org.uk, or you can send it to us via Facebook Messenger.

We plan on opening late in October, but training will take place for a week or two before officially opening.

Roles

We need to fulfil many roles, from making cakes and cleaning to teaching people how to play games or running Dungeons and Dragons.

Baristas

Want to learn how to make a proper cup of coffee with an espresso machine? Even if you've never done it before, we will give you complete training on how to make a perfect cup of coffee. Are you an experienced barista who can spare a few hours a week? Please apply.

Caterers

Are you a professional chef, or do you enjoy cooking? Maybe you make cakes and want to share them with the community. We'll need lots of help with this. Our menu will not be extensive, but we will need lots of cakes in our fridge. If you want to feel more confident in making food items, we're still happy to train you and make you more confident in preparing food. Are you looking to become a chef but need training and experience in a professional setting? We can help.

Table Attendants

An important job in any hospitality setting. Making the community feel welcoming when they enter, offering them a table, taking food and drinks to tables, and clearing and cleaning tables when people leave. This is a great role if you're an extrovert and want to meet the community. If you're after experience in customer service, this is a great role for you too.

Cleaners

As a food location, we have to be cleaner than clean. The whole shop must be cleaned thoroughly daily, along with cutlery and crockery throughout the service. This is an excellent job if you're an introvert, as you will be in our back room where our dishwasher will be.

Game Masters

As gaming is our big focus, we will need help from gamers. Maybe you're a Dungeon Master for Dungeons and Dragons, perhaps you love board games and know how to play lots of board games, then we need your help. We expect many people to be interested in gaming and to need help learning to play a board game or trading card game. We also expect people to come in independently, wanting to play roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons. We'll need Dungeon Masters with the expertise to have different people and new people each week.

Trustee / Members

The most prominent role to take on, a Trustee, will help manage various things.

From making sure the community interest company has enough money to meet its goals, helping with fundraising, to helping with advertising to make sure people know where we are and what services we offer. Being a Trustee is a big role which, with help from Support Staffordshire, we can offer training for, so you will not be thrown into the dark.
